Making a lasting difference
The results of the Canterbury City Wall Wildflower Seeding Project are now on full display, with vibrant wildflowers transforming the landscape around one of the city’s most recognisable historic landmarks.
FGS Agri was proud to support the project by carrying out the specialist ground preparation and wildflower seeding required to establish new meadow habitats along sections of the City Wall bank. Working within this sensitive heritage setting required a careful approach to ensure the new planting complemented the existing landscape while protecting established grassland and vegetation.
The project formed part of a wider programme to enhance the area’s biodiversity and visual appeal, creating valuable habitat for pollinating insects and other wildlife while preserving the character of the historic surroundings.
Following successful establishment, the meadows have flourished this spring, providing a colourful display that has been welcomed by both residents and visitors. The project demonstrates how carefully planned habitat creation can enhance public spaces while delivering long-term environmental benefits.
FGS Agri worked alongside the wider project team to deliver the seeding works and is delighted to see the scheme thriving as intended, bringing colour, biodiversity and lasting value to this important part of Canterbury.
